FAQ
1. What is the registration procedure?
Required documents:
• 2-sided alien registration photo (在留カード) with validity of more than 3 months.
• Photo of the owner holding the alien registration card: Confirming that the owner is over 18 years old.
• In case you do not purchase at a branch, the SIM will only be sent to the address that matches the latest registered address on the foreign resident card.
2. After registration, how long can I use it?
After registration, you can activate the sim and use it after 1-2 days. Please text Hoang Hai after receiving the sim to notify the activation.
The SIM is a prepaid SIM, your account will be loaded with money for the network operator to deduct monthly fees (enough for the number of months of fees that you initially registered at Hoang Hai). In case the SIM incurs call charges, the network operator will deduct directly from the account.
When your account does not have enough balance, you will need to pay the amount that the network operator sends a notice to you at the beginning of the month.
3. Is there an activation fee?
Yes. Normally, the activation fee is around 3,300 yen and is only charged once during the first month of billing.
However, when registering at Hoang Hai, you will be exempted from this activation fee.
4. Does the SIM have any calling and texting charges?
Yes. Call and text message charges: 22¥/30 seconds call, 3¥/1 message under 70 characters.
SIM receives free incoming calls and messages. Convenient for confirming OTP codes or information from network operators. (Some specialized APPs may not be registered, for example Merukari, Paypay,...).
5. What devices can the SIM be used on?
SIM can be used for all international phones that are not locked to Docomo network.
However, if the device does not display the signal bar, the customer needs to install the Docomo calling SIM configuration. See configuration installation instructions here .
6. How much monthly data does the SIM card allow?
The SIM has high-speed 4G data available according to the package you registered for. For example, 10GB/month package: After using up all 10GB of high-speed data, you can still access the internet at a slow speed (128kbps). This speed is suitable for texting using network connection applications, checking trains.
7. How can I deposit funds?
You can renew your monthly subscription in one of three ways:
1. Pay via Smartpit code:
• At the beginning of the month, the network operator will send a payment bill via SMS and Mail, including the Smartpit code for payment at Combini. Payment fee: 176 yen.
• Payment time is from 1st to 6th. After 7th, the network will be cut off. If you pay the fee, the network will be restored. If you leave it for too long, it will be canceled and you will owe the network.
2. Transfer money: You can transfer money to Hoang Hai and Hoang Hai will top up your balance for you. Because it is a prepaid SIM, you can top up many months of service at the same time.
3. Top up via Visa card: You can top up your balance via Visa card.
8. If I lose my SIM card, how can I get the correct number?
If your SIM is lost, you can request a new SIM according to the following policy:
• Reissue fee: 3,000 yen.
• Re-issuance time: 14 days.
• You must pay the full amount before requesting a reissue.
• The reissued SIM will be sent to the address that matches the latest registered address on the gai card (在留カード).
9. Can I change network and keep my number?
When you need to change network and keep your number, the network operator will ask for the MNP code, Hoang Hai can provide it upon request.
On the contrary, when you are using a phone number of another network but want to register for a Docomo calling sim at Hoang Hai and still want to keep the number, you need to provide the MNP code to Hoang Hai.
10. What should I do if I want to cancel my SIM?
To cancel your SIM contract, please note:
• You need to notify Hoang Hai before the 24th of each month if you want to cancel your SIM that month.
• You must pay all outstanding fees in full before canceling your SIM.
• After cancellation, you can only re-register this type of SIM after at least 3 months.
11. Can I buy a SIM card online and have it sent home?
Yes. You can absolutely order your SIM online and have it delivered to your home. However, please note: The SIM will only be sent to the address that matches the latest registered address on the gai card (在留カード). Hoang Hai does not send SIMs to addresses that do not match the information on the SIM card to ensure compliance with network regulations and avoid the risk of misuse of personal information.
12. After purchasing the SIM, will I get support during use?
